How can a novel playful learning environment (SmartUs playground) and the possibility of creating your own games for playing at the playground serve basic education?
In our research, we study how the playground’s technological solutions and game development applications support teaching, studying and learning processes and how Playful Learning Environments (PLEs) enrich teaching practices in schools.
In the fall 2007 we had a great opportunity to study the use of PLEs in teaching, studying and learning during our research period (10.9.-12.10.2007). Research material was collected within a five-week teaching experiment in three schools in Rovaniemi, and Oldenzaal, Netherlands. Totally 15 classes; 336 elementary school students and 15 teachers participated in the research.
This blog was created for the research period and it has been an important forum for teachers, researchers, research assistants and students in media education and for other partners, who have been interested in our research period.
